Neglect not the gift that is in thee
In the New Testament, 1 Timothy 4:14 states, "Neglect not the gift that is in thee." Our purpose on this earth, and our greatest fulfillment, comes from developing and using the gifts and talents that God has given to us--that are inherent in us and are who we ARE. The clue to discovering this about ourselves comes from listening to our desires, wishes and interests. They are the soul trying to express itself.
Our greatest happiness and our greatest success will come from listening to our heart and then following it. Of course, this should never be done in a way that compromises family relationships, because NO success can compensate for failure in the home. There is nothing so unfulfilling as having reached a goal and having no one with which to share it.
"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them." Take some time to think about what really inspires and moves you. What speaks to you? If you had no limits in time, money, or resources, what would you be doing? This is a clue to what will bring you the greatest joy and fulfillment. It is different for each one of us because we all have our unique contribution to make. First Corinthians 7:7 says "But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that."
One of our favorite quotes and biggest inspiration is from W. H. Murray who says:
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way."
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!'
Goethe
"A decision is made with the brain. A commitment is made with the heart. Therefore, a commitment is much deeper and more binding than a decision."
